How to Use a Template to Make a Card – #1

Hello crafty stampers!

I’ve been feeling like I need a challenge. So I took a look at the new 2024-2025 Annual Catalog and I found what I needed on page 22! At the bottom of the page, there are 22 different card templates to help you to make a card! You can make them as simple as you like, or “doll them up” a little. So I’m challenging myself to make a card using each template to help me get started. Maybe you’d like to do join me? I will try to make two cards per week using two different templates ;-). I numbered all the templates so I could remember the ones I’ve already made.

Let’s start with #1:

Can you guess which suite collection this card uses? The Adventurous Sky on page 36 – 37. I really like this suite. There are several planes and matching dies of various sizes. I took a piece of Basic White cardstock and ran it through my Embossing Machine with the Distressed Tile 3D embossing folder, took a sponge and a little Boho Blue ink, and gave it a little color. Then I took my Paper Snips and roughed up the edges of the paper to give it a vintage look.

Since this card is from my hubby’s birthday, and everyone will want to write a little greeting, I used two 4 x 5-1/4″ layers of Basic White, added some stamps and the plane. I stamped another tiny plane, cut it out with the die, and adhered it to the card front. I forgot to mention that the Designer Series Paper on the card front is from the same suite and it’s called Take to the Sky DSP. Added a little Linen Thread and called it a day!

If you decide to join me on this challenge, I’d love to see what you come up with! I hope you all have a beautiful day!

Blessings, Debbie

June Mystery Card Monday

Hi crafty friends!

I have a fun fold card that I call an Accordion Card for you today. It’s easy-peasy to make and I hope you’ll try it. Let’s get started!

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • CARDSTOCK: Card Base: 5-1/2 x 10-1/8 inches; score in landscape orientation at 4-1/4, 5-3/4, 7-1/4, and 8-3/4 inches
  • DESIGNER SERIES PAPER: 1-3/8 x 5-3/8 inches (Cut 3 of these)
    • 1-1/8 x 5-3/8 inches (Cut 1)
    • NEUTRAL CARDSTOCK: 4 x 5-1/4 inches
    • FOCAL LAYER: Suggest it be 2-1/2 x 1-1/2 inches, but it could be any shape: circle, square, rectangle, oval, etc.
    • HELPFUL TOOLS: Simply Scored Tool, Paper Trimmer, adhesive of choice, bone folder, ink pad(s), maybe dies, stamps, embellishments, etc.
  1. With card base in landscape orientation, score as directed above. Rotate card base so 4 x 5-1/4 inch side is on the right.

2. Adhere 1-1/8 x 5-3/8 inch strip to left panel. Decorate 4 x 5-1/4 inch inside layer.

Adhere 1-3/8 x 5-3/8 inch panels.

This card is “mantel-worthy.” It can stand on its own.

I decided to use matching ribbon to keep the folds together for mailing.

Hope you like it!! Have a great stamp-happy day!

Special Discounts on Bundles and Machines!

Hello stamping friends!

You read it right! You can get an additional 10% off bundles (stamps + dies) starting now till June 30th! And until June 30th, you can get 10% off our Cut & Emboss Machine and the Mini Cut & Emboss Machine.

Years ago, when I first started with Stampin’ Up! as a demonstrator, I bought the Big Shot Machine which Stampin’ Up! sold back then. Then when Stampin’ Up! came out with its own Cut & Emboss Machine, and I’m glad I did. It has a smoother glide thru the machine. There are times when I run the “sandwich” back and forth a couple times, just to make sure the die has cut clean through. That’s good to do especially when you have intricate dies to cut.

I hope you’ll take advantage of this great offer! Have a great day and go stamp something !

April Mystery Card Monday – April Fool’s Day!

Dear crafty friends,

About a week ago, several crafty friends and I made a “Mystery Card” that I had put together. I gave them the “clues” to help them prepare for the Zoom event where we put our cards together. I have this event every month and it’s a blast! I’m going to show you the Mystery Cards from two of my attendees. The first card was made by Diane. The cards are a type of Z-fold card. Perhaps you can see why 🙂

Thanks for sharing your card design, Diane!

The next Mystery Card was done by Marilyn.

Thank you, too, Marilyn, for sharing your design!

Great job, ladies! I will share my design in a day or two, as I wanted to remake my card. Stay tuned!
