Thoughtful Cards from Friends

Hi crafty friends!

Recently my mailbox had a couple of beautiful cards.  One was a sympathy card for Tom’s dad’s passing from my friend Nicole, and the other was a sweet thank you card for a Christmas gift from my God-daughter Catherine.

Aren’t they pretty?!  The card on the left was made from a Paper Pumpkin Kit called Gift of Fall, I think.

Paper Pumpkin is a great value; after you make the cards in the kit, you still have “leftovers” like the stamp set, the ink spot, and other pieces to use to make more cards, scrapbook pages, or 3-D projects.  Paper Pumpkin is only $22 plus tax in the U.S.A.  (Shipping is included.)  If you’re interested in learning more about Paper Pumpkin Kits, contact me at my email address below.

This is such a pretty sympathy card.  Nicole used a coloring technique with the Stampin’ Write Markers to actually color the stamp first, “huff” on it a couple times to re-moisten the ink, and stamp it on the cardstock.  This stamp set Thoughts & Prayers is a retired, but classic set. Nicole embellished her card with small pearls for the center of each flower. Sweet!

Receiving cards in the mail is such a personal way to express sympathy or thanks or congratulations for special events.  It means the sender took the time to craft a card especially for you, addressed the envelope, placed a P.O. stamp on it, and put it in the mailbox to be picked up, all the while thinking of you.  That’s what makes handcrafted cards so special and unique!  Thank you, Nicole and Catherine!

Have a blessed day!

Popsicle Card

Hello crafty friends!

Well, I think I should tell you why I’ve been MIA again so soon since my New Year’s resolution. ☹  Right after Christmas our entire family contracted a mild case of Covid.  As we were on the mend from that, my father-in-law, who just turned 94, passed away.  Would you be so good as to say a prayer for his soul?  He is a good man who raised great children, one of whom is my husband.  Anyway, you know how life can be, right?

Tom’s Dad with a few of his great-grandkids

My card for you today is a “cool” birthday card made with a new Suite in the 2021 January-June Catalog called the Ice Cream Corner Suite on p. 49.  I love the colors and images in the Designer Series Paper: Ice Cream Corner.  And I CASE’d a card on p. 48.  CASE means Copy And Share Everything.  I switched up the Designer Series Paper and the color of the cardstock.  You’ll notice that I kept the layout of the card, because I liked it.

The colors in this Designer Series Paper are yummy!!!  Blackberry Bliss, Cinnamon Cider, Bumblebee, Terracotta Tile, Bermuda Bay, and others.

I used the greetings from the Sweet Ice Cream stamp set and backed it with the Blackberry Bliss Striped Ribbon that comes in the suite.  I used the Banner Pick a Punch to flag the ends of the greeting and popped it up with dimensionals.

For the inside, I used a new Sale-a-bration stamp set called Approaching Perfection, which you can get for FREE with a $50 merchandise order!  The sentiments in this set are unique and fun.

Want to make it?  Here are the details:

Old Olive card base:  5-1/2 x 8-1/2 inches, scored at 4-1/4 inches

Soft Sea Foam layer:  3-1/2 x 4-3/4 inches

Ice Cream Corner Designer Series Paper:  3-1/2 x 4-3/4 inches

Basic White greeting banner:  1 x 4-1/4 inches

Blackberry Bliss Striped Ribbon: 8-1/2 inches length, fold in half to layer behind greeting

Inside Basic White layer:  4 x 5-1/4 inches

INKS:  Bermuda Bay, Old Olive, Markers to color candle stamp: Old Olive, Bermuda Bay, Petal

Pink, Bermuda Bay, Bumblebee, Terracotta Tile

To decorate the envelope flap, cut a 2-1/2 x 6-inch piece of the Designer Series Paper.  Adhere it

to the envelope flap with Stampin’ Seal.  Use Paper Snips to trim excess Designer Series Paper away.  It’s a great, easy way to make the envelope matchy-matchy!

If you don’t have a demonstrator, I would be happy to help you with your Stampin’ Up! supplies.

Hope you like it! Have a blessed day!

Whisper White is out; Basic White is in

Hi crafty friends!

As some of you may know, Whisper White cardstock, a longtime staple for Stampin’ Up!, is no longer available.  The mill that produced it closed due to Covid.  Stampin’ Up! is replacing it with

Basic White cardstock.  Attached is a flyer with details, item numbers and price points.

Here is a link to a short video comparing the quality of Basic White with Whisper White cardstock.

Whisper White will be available until SU depletes their inventory.  There may be some lag time until the new cardstock becomes available, but I’m sure SU will expedite this asap.

The Very Vanilla product line is not impacted by this change.

Below is a list of all products that will be replaced with our new Basic White cardstock. These items are now available while supplies last with an order limit of 2 per item per order.

Beautiful World FunFold Card

January 2, 2021

Dear crafty friends,

Have you made any New Year’s Resolutions?  I have several and one of them is to post to my blog and Facebook page more often than I have been, and to keep to a schedule as much as I can.  I can’t promise that I’ll always be faithful to the schedule I set up for myself; life is like that sometimes, but I’m sure going to try.

My younger brother is celebrating a birthday this month and I thought the World of Good Suite products (AC pp. 24-26) were just the thing to fashion a card he would like.  I made his card into a fun fold with three panels and hence, the name.

I used the Beautiful World Bundle stamps and dies on p. 26 (#154091) and the World of Good Specialty Designer Series Paper with gorgeous brass foiling on the sheets.  The atlas and stand were die-cut using the brass foil paper included in the suite of products (#153057) and the new Stampin’ Up! Cut & Emboss Machine (#149653 on p. 170).  This is also a wonderful way to show off both sides of the Designer Series Paper.

Details:

Card Base Mossy Meadow: 5-1/2 x 4-1/4 inches

Designer Series Paper cut to 5-1/4 x 12 inches (watch orientation), scored at 2, 5, and 8 inches

Card base Mossy Meadow: 5-1/2 x 4-1/4 inches

Whisper White inside panel:  5 x 2-3/4 inches

Assembly:

            1.         Fold Designer Series strip on fold lines- accordion style.  Glue the two-inch panel back on itself.  Use bone folder for crisp edges. Adhere folded Designer Series Paper to Mossy Meadow card base.

            2.         Use Tombow Liquid glue to adhere atlas and stand to card front.

            3.         Use gold embossing powder, Versamark ink, and heat tool to emboss the sentiment on a scrap of Mossy Meadow cardstock.  Die-cut with Stitched Rectangle Dies and use Tombow Liquid glue to adhere to card front, careful to allow card to open freely.

            4.         Stamp inside greeting in Moments Black ink on Whisper White layer and adhere to inside card, careful to hide white layer behind Designer Series Paper panel.

I hope my brother likes his card and has a wonderful birthday!

If I can help you with your paper-crafting needs, I would be honored!  Leave a comment below or send me a message.

Blessings and good health to you and your loved ones in this New Year!

Nativity Card

Hi crafty friends!

I hope you are well and happy. Today I have another Christmas card to share with you. It’s made with the Peaceful Nativity stamp set and Nativity Dies on p. 17 of the 2020 August-December Mini Catalog. I LOVE this set. This is what Christmas is all about! I stamped the images in Tuxedo Black Momento ink and colored the images with the Blends. I popped up the Holy Family images and the front of the stable with dimensionals. This was another card from the Christmas Card Stamp-a-Stack. The Night of Navy cardstock background was embossed with the Evergreen Forest 3D Embossing Folder on p. 35 of the Mini Holiday Catalog (as above). The “snow bank” was made with Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper I had in my retired stash. The Bethlehem star was made with Gold Foil. Hope you like it!

Blessings,

Debbie
