June Mystery Card Monday – Beautiful Samples!

Hello crafty friends!

Recently, some friends joined me for a Mystery Card Monday where they make a card with me after I have given them some “clues” to prepare. It’s a lot of fun and I love seeing what their cards look like when they use their own stash of products. This month we made a fun fold I call “Card on a Card.” Here are their beautiful samples.

This is Diane’s card:

Next is Mariellen’s card:

Sympathy Card

Hello crafty friends,

Losing a relative or friend is always very hard, so I like to have sympathy cards already on hand when that happens.  Here are the supplies I used for this card:  Fresh Freesia, Basic White, and Basic Black cardstock, the Something Fancy stamp set for the greeting and sentiment, Fresh Freesia Ribbon, the two hearts from the Country Bouquet stamp set, and the Fancy Flora 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper (retired, but you may have some left, as I do).  The Fresh Freesia is a favorite color of mine.

I hope you like my card. I think that greeting and colors of the DSP are sweet and comforting.

On to a happier topic … It seems like everyone in our neighborhood has dogs: big dogs, little dogs, barking dogs, quiet and calm dogs! We are the only house with cats! We have two cats, Ginger (named for Ginger Rogers, but when we found out he was a male cat, we let him keep the name anyway) and Coco (named for Coco Chanel). They are very sweet, quiet (emphasis on the quiet) cats. Maybe you would like to meet them:

Ginger is on the left; Coco on the right.

Yep, that’s how Ginger likes to sleep!

They make me smile! Have a blessed day!

Happy Mother’s Day Card

Dear crafty friends,

Yours truly has been laid up with a sprained ankle which happened last Sunday.  Yes, I am a klutz.  I am definitely on the mend, though.  Take a look at this card that a friend sent me.  Beautiful!  My good friend Dot created this card and used the Blossoms in Bloom dies and layered them up.  These dies are retired, but they still pack a punch!

Here are some more samples of Dot’s cards using the same dies:

I love this layout.  Do you see the very thin black layer?  To get that to adhere to the card, use your silicone mat.  Place the black layer on it upside down.  Then carefully sponge Tombow liquid glue over the back of the layer and adhere to your card.  If there are any sticky spots, pat your Embossing Buddy on those spots to take the stickiness away.

I hope that all of you who are Mothers will have a Happy Mother’s Day!

Here’s what I plan to do tomorrow . . .

Have a Blessed day!

Setting Sail and Going Away

Hi crafty friends!

Here’s a last reminder that TODAY is the last day to order retiring products from the 2022-2023 Annual Catalog and the January – April Mini Catalog! So I decided to use the Let’s Set Sail Bundle (stamp set and punch) to say, “Good-bye” to those retiring items we’ve come to know and enjoy!

I took open ink pads: Pool Party, Coastal Cabana, and Blueberry Bushel and swiped them across the Basic White cardstock to mimic the ocean. I used a sponge and Azure Afternoon (new color) to create an idea of movement and wind in the air. Then I stamped the sailboat in Pecan Pie (new color) and Calypso Coral, popped them on the sea with dimensionals. I added some birds with Pecan Pie ink. The card base is Pecan Pie, too! The greeting was stamped in Pecan Pie (I think I’m going to like that color!) and cut it out with the Deckled Rectangles Dies. A bit of Linen Thread finished it off!

Blessings,

A Fun Pop-Out Card

Hi crafty friends!

Last Monday, some of my crafty friends and I made this Fun Fold Pop-Out Card. The idea came from Sam Donald (aka Pootles) who is a demonstrator in the UK. I still have some of the retired Painted Poppies Designer Series Paper, so I thought to use it for this card. I love the watercolor look of the flowers, don’t you? If you want to see how she made this card, here is her video:

Here’s what you need to make this card:

Cardstock: neutral color, plus 2 colors of cardstock that coo2-3/4″rdinate with your Designer Series Paper; Stamp set; Any 2 punches or dies to match your greeting and sentiment AND can fit nicely in your card without being crowded; Simply Scored Tool; Inks to match your Designer Series Paper; Ribbon/Embellishment; Adhesive; Envelope

Cutting Measurements:

Colored Card Base: 11″ x 4-1/4″, score @ 2-3/4″ and 8-1/4″” x

Colored Cardstock strips: On 5″ x 1/2″ strip, score @ 3/4″, 1-1/2″, and 4-1/4″

and 4″ x 1/2″strip, score @ 3/8″, 3/4″, and 3-5/8″

Neutral Cardstock for inside panel: 4″ x 5-1/4″

DSP panels: (cut 4) 2-1/2 x 4″

Matching Ribbon: Approx. 24″ in length

ASSEMBLY:

  • Fold card base and burnish.
    • Adhere the 4 DSP panels to front and back. (Make sure the orientation is correct.)
    • Stamp greeting and sentiment on a scrap of Basic White CS. (I also stamped off using Flirty Flamingo and Old Olive inks with a spatter stamp.)
    • At this point it would be easier for you to watch Pootles’ video at the link above.

Here are some alternate examples of this Fun Fold Card from my crafty friends!

This is Mariellen’s sample:

Last but definitely not least, is Rose’s card:
