Holiday Mini Catalog BASH

Hi crafty friends!

In September, my upline Angela, and sideline Cathy, plus Angela’s daughter Maggie, and I organized a fun Bash for our customers at a nearby event center. Each of us came up with a card project for our guests. We also had a “Retired Stamp Store,” lots of Door Prizes, coffee and donuts, plus loads of crafty fun!

Here are some photos of our event. If you live in or near Cincinnati, I hope you can come to the next one!

Here are photos of the projects Angela, Cathy, and I came up with:

The Bash was such a success! Everyone had fun, and left with door prizes, some retired products that were new to them, and some new inspiration for their own cards. I hope you’ll be able to join us for the next Bash!

August 2022 Paper Pumpkin Alternative Projects

Hi crafty friends!

I hope you all had a wonderful 3-day Labor Day weekend! I had a little time to make a few alternative projects with the August 2022 Paper Pumpkin Sunflowers Kit. Here they are:

The Collection
I used the Delicate Details Treat Boxes, colored the front with blending brushes, and added elements from the Paper Pumpkin Kit.
I used Crushed Curry cardstock for the card base, and Daffodil Delight ribbon behind the greeting label.
I made two 12 x 12 scrap pages using one of the envelopes that came with the kit. I gently pulled it apart, trimmed it, and used it as a background/scene for the scrapbook pages. I added some of the bees that came with the kit, too.
Here is one page and the other is below.
I also used a few items from a Project Life box I have. Stampin’ Up! used to sell these as part of their product line, but they don’t anymore.

Well, I hope you liked these alternative projects. This August Kit is beautiful!

Cards in the Mail to Me

Hi crafty friends!

I am always happy when I see the gift of creativity in others who enjoy papercrafting as I do. And I love to share the cards my friends have made for me.

This beautiful vintage-style card and the next were made by Diane. It’s a sparkly card!
This lovely fun fold card was created by one of my downlines, Mary. I love her combination of colors and Designer Series Paper.
Here is a birthday card from my good friend Nicole. I’ve got to figure out how she made it!! LOL
This striking card is also from Nicole.
This gorgeous card is by Susan I love the watercolor look on the Designer Series Paper!
I made a purchase a few months ago and the seller sent this Thank You card with my purchase. She didn’t sign it and I don’t recall her name, unfortunately. But I like the simple but elegant style.

Have you gotten some inspiration from these cards? I hope so. Now go stamp something:-)

Have a blessed day!

Quilt Book Binder Card

I love quilts and quilting, so of course I would love making a quilt card! Maybe you would like to try it, too.

WHAT YOU NEED TO PREPARE:

Designer Series Paper (with small images, two different patterns, one light and one dark), solid color cardstock that coordinates with your DSP (two colors: We’ll call them C1 and C2), neutral color cardstock (vanilla or white, that goes with your chosen DSP), your choice of glue or tape runner, a scoring tool, bone folder, embellishments (ribbon or jewels, etc.)

No stamps are needed for this mystery card, unless you wish to put a sentiment inside. No ink is needed either.

If you have an embossing folder and a machine that embosses, that would be good.  If you don’t, have a ruler and bone folder or stylus handy.

Hint:  This card is a combination of a technique and a fun fold 😊

Closeup view

CUTTING MEASUREMENTS:

Card base (solid color cardstock: C1):  11 x 4-1/4”, score on long side (landscape) at 4-1/4” and 5-1/2”.  Use same color cardstock C1 to cut a 3-1/2 x 3-1/2” square.

4 pieces of 1-1/4 x 1-1/4” squares (DSP: cut 2 each of 2 designs with small images)

Neutral cardstock: cut a 4 x 4” square and a 3-3/4 x 3-3/4” square

Cut 2-1/2 x 2-1/2” square of C2 coordinating light solid color cardstock to match DSP; of the same C2 color cardstock cut two 1-1/4 x 1-1/4” squares

1 x 4” strip of your DSP

ASSEMBLY DIRECTIONS:

  1. Fold and burnish scored lines on card base using accordion fold.  Put glue between scored lines and press together to form book binding card.  Adhere 1 x 4” strip along binding section.  (Consider orientation if you have directional Designer Series Paper.)
  2. Glue 4 x 4” neutral cardstock inside card.
  3. Now we’ll work on the focal point of the card front:  Take the 4 pieces of the 1-1/4” Designer Series Paper squares and glue them on the neutral cardstock 2-1/2” square.

(Be careful with directional paper.)

  • Glue that layer onto the 3-1/2 x 3-1/2” layer.
  • Cut the two 1-1/4” squares (solid cardstock color C2) diagonally to have 4 triangles.  Glue the triangles in each of the 4 corners of the square.
  • Use the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine and an embossing folder to emboss the square layer to look like a quilted blanket top.  I used the Hive 3D Embossing Folder.  Option:  Use a ruler and either a bone folder or stylus to score lines from point to point.  See the extra example.
  • Glue focal piece onto neutral 3-3/4 x 3-3/4” square.  Glue this square onto card front.
  • Embellish as desired.

This card was so fun to put together!  Give it a try! I’d love to see your creation. See you soon.

Have a blessed day! Debbie

Color Blocking Technique

Hello crafty friends!

I’ve been seeing this color blocking technique around and among Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators, and I thought I’d give it a whirl myself. I’ve done this technique years ago and I’m glad to re-visit it. Here’s what I came up with:

If you would like to try your hand at this technique, gather a three or more kinds of colored cardstock that go together, and cut them to 3-3/4 inches long and varied widths of 1/2″ to 1 inch. (My colors were Merry Merlot, Rich Razzleberry, Crushed Curry, Cajun Craze, and Pumpkin Pie.) Arrange them on a cardstock mat slightly larger and wider; I used Sahara Sand for mine (3-1/2 by 4 inches). I added a Basic White mat under that (3-5/8 x 4-1/8 inches). That card base (Crumb Cake) measures 5-1/2 by 4-1/4 inches.

Other details:

STAMP SETS: Daffodil Daydream, Very Best Occasions

INKS: Cajun Craze, Versamark

ACCESSORIES: White Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, Embossing Buddy, Brushed Brass Butterflies, Clear Wink of Stella (for the spattering)

Try this technique for yourself! Have a blessed day!

Some Seasonal Scrapbooking Pages

Hi crafty friends,

I’ve been participating in Lyssa Zwolanek’s Scrapbooking Summer School and I want to share some of the pages she designed for us to put together. I don’t have photos on them yet, but I thought you might like to see them. Several others and I paid Lyssa for the “Class” and she designed, cut, assembled all the pieces for twelve days of scrapping two pages a day, and mailed out the packages. It was loads of fun! We even had “homework” LOL!

Here are some of my pages:

I had such fun recreating these layouts, adding a few of my own touches, and I’m eager to finish them with some great photos :-). I hope you liked them and if you like to scrapbook, maybe they will inspire you to make some pages, too! What do you think?

Have a blessed day! Debbie
