Graduation Cards

Hi crafty friends!

Happy Memorial Day! Today I hope you join me in giving thanks to those who gave their life or who put themselves in harm’s way each day to keep us safe, whether in peacetime or war time. THANK YOU!

Over the weekend I had a few graduation cards to make and I’m sharing them with you.

Even though I used the Slim Sayings stamp set for this card, this is not a slim card design, although the camera angle makes it seem so. Details: Fresh Freesia, Garden Green, and Basic White cardstock; Tea Boutique 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper; Stripes and Splatters 3D embossing folder; Slim Sayings stamp set (retiring end of June); retired punch. The greeting on the front card is cut out with the Stylish Shapes dies on p. 175 of the new Annual Catalog. On the inside, I added a pocket for a gift card or cash.

I used the retired Number the Years stamp/dies set for this card. The inside sentiment is from the Slim Saying stamp set which I embossed with gold powder. The numbers on the front of the card were cut out of Distressed Gold 12 x 12 Specialty Paper which is in the new 2022-2023 Annual Catalog. I added a pocket embossed with the Painted Texture 3D embossing folder. The card is made with Garden Green and Basic White cardstock, the colors of the high school my great niece will be attending in the fall.

My final graduation card starts with Polished Pink card base. I used the newly retired Ice Cream Cone Builder punch with coordinating stamp set and retired Designer Series Paper (which I still have a lot of!). I used the current Basic Borders dies (the cloud design) to cut the Basic White layer on the card front. I also used the cloud border die to make a pocket inside the card. The sentiment inside the card is from the (retired) Pure Gumption stamp set.

Thanks for lookin’! Have a blessed Memorial Day!

Tilted Layer Birthday Card

Hello crafty friends! Happy Friday!!

I didn’t know what to call this card, so I’m calling it a “tilted” birthday card. It probably goes by other names as well. As of now, I am a retired teacher and am hoping to be able to do more for you here on my blog. My niece has been helping me to set it up – thank you, Cassie!! She can do things quickly where it would take me hours of hunting and pecking to see what works LOL

Looking closely, you can see that the Mossy Meadow layer is slightly tilted to give the card some unusual interest. Texture was added with the Brick & Mortar 3D Embossing Folder on the Basic White layer. Without further ado, here are the details for you –

            4.         Adhere Designer Series Paper over green layer, upright position.

            5.         Stamp Happy Birthday greeting in Mossy Meadow on white strip.

            6.         Use Banner Pick-a-Punch to flag both ends of greeting strip.  Use dimensionals to adhere greeting to card front.

            7.         Stamp double leaf in Mossy Meadow on scrap of white.  Use die and machine to cut out leaves.  Cut leaves apart.  Glue leaves behind greeting strip.

            8.         Inside white layer:  Stamp stem in Mossy Meadow on Basic White layer. ***Ink flower with Polished Pink ink pad.  Use dauber and Merry Merlot ink pad to color center of flower stamp.  HUFF A FEW TIMES ON STAMP, then stamp on inside layer.

Mystery Card Monday for April

Hi crafty friends,

Recently I held a Zoom event I call Mystery Card Monday, a monthly event for some card crafters and anyone who wants to “come.” I send sketchy details of measurements for the card, plus other things the crafters might like to have on hand as we put the Mystery Card together. It’s a free event and allows crafty friends who cannot attend the monthly Card Parties to do something fun and creative with me.

I used the Flowering Tulips stamp set and the coordinating Designer Series Paper. Love this DSP! It’s still available to purchase through May!

This is a side view so you can see the little cardstock apparatus that attaches the front greeting layer and allows you to make it appear like it is floating in air! Fun!

Two friends who made the Mystery Card Monday version of their own, using their own products in their “craft stash” shared their finished cards with me. Take a look at these beauties:

This first card is by Marilyn. I love that Designer Series Paper! Such a beautiful card!

Very pretty! Love that Designer Series Paper!

The next two cards were made and submitted to me by Diane. This is a beautiful rendition of my card. I love it when the ladies put their own individual additions to the original project.

So fun!
This is Diane’s second card and just as gorgeous as the first.
The inside is so pretty, too!

Hope you like our Mystery Cards! We would love it if you left a comment or two. And if you wish to join us, our next Mystery Card Monday will be May 30th at 7:30 p.m. Let me know in the comment section if you would like to participate. I’ll need your name and address, please!

Have a blessed day!

Decorated Gift Boxes for Easter or anytime!

Hi crafty friends!

Each year when Easter comes around, I like to make a special treat for our four grandchildren, and it always involves using Stampin’ Up! products! Here’s what I did for this Easter:

Simple and quick to make, but cute too, don’t you think? They’re stuffed with chocolate marshmallow eggs, Hershey’s milk chocolate eggs, Jelly Belly’s, and edible grass. The “Happy Easter” greeting came from a retired stamp set “Welcome Easter,” but this project can be used for ANY occasion.

I started with the Mini Paper Pumpkin boxes that will be retiring on May 3rd. Get them before they run out! They’re a great versatile size for treats, jewelry, a pair of socks or mittens, maybe a light scarf or some perfume. I put the Mini Paper Pumpkin boxes together first. Then I used the Pattern Party Designer Series Paper (also retiring on May 3rd or while supplies last) to cover the various sides of the boxes.

MEASUREMENTS FOR BOX: (Watch for orientation of your DSP.)

Cut two: 5-1/2″ x 3-1/2″ for top and bottom of box

Cut two: 5-1/2″ x 1″ for long sides of box

Cut two: 3-1/2″ x 1″ for short sides of box.

Ribbon: enough to wrap around the box twice and tie a bow, about 24 inches? (Sorry, I didn’t measure as I was cutting.)

Basic White scrap to stamp and cut out greeting.

Hope you liked this project! If you need Mini Paper Pumpkin Boxes, click on the Shop button above to enter my online store and search for “Mini Paper Pumpkin Boxes.” Better do it quick before they run out!

Have a blessed day! Debbie
