Every Blessing Christmas Card for Candy’s Crew

Hello, crafty friends!

Several times a year, I help residents at a local Senior Apartment building to make cards. They’re a wonderful group, and I meet new ladies every time I go there. It’s so fun to see them enjoy paper crafting. My friend Candy sets it all up, and I design and prep the pieces to make the cards. This week we made two Christmas cards. The first one is made with the Every Blessing stamp set. This stamp set retired a few years ago, but I still like to use it for Christmas cards, as the set is all about what is at the heart of Christmas: the birth of Christ.

Card Base (Evening Evergreen):  4-1/4 x 11 inches, score at 5-1/2 inches in landscape for a side fold card

Layer 1 (Painted Christmas Designer Series Paper):  5-1/4 x 4 inches.  Be careful if the DSP has a particular orientation.

Layer 2 (Basic White):  6 x 4-1/2 inches. Stamp shepherds and star silhouette in Evening Evergreen.  Use marker to fill in uneven spots. Cut the image using a rectangle layer from Color & Contour dies (second from the largest rectangle). Use Cut & Emboss Machine.

Stamp greeting: “Glory to the newborn King” in Soft Succulent ink. Cut out and attach a gold star with mini glue dot over inked star image.

Snail image layer to DSP layer. Place several dimensionals behind layer, then adhere to card base.

Inside Layer (Basic White):  4 x 5-1/4 inches. Stamp message in Soft Succulent. Stamp star in So Saffron. Adhere to inside of card with Stampin’ Seal.

Decorate envelope, if desired.

Have a blessed day! ~ Debbie

Tombstone Treat Boxes

Hi crafty friends!

Happy All Hallows Eve! That is the original name for what we now call Halloween. I have a Halloween project I made for my four grandkids and they got them this evening. (There is 2-1/2 hours more of Halloween!) The Tombstone Treat Boxes were the perfect size!

I made these using the Frightfully Cute Bundle: stamp set and dies. It’s such a cute set and I know I’ll find other ways to use it! The sentiments and greetings are so fun! The ribbon around the box helps keep the lid and bottom closed.

Here is a closeup of one.

My grandkids loved them! And I had a blast putting them together 🙂

Have a wonderfully blessed week! ~ Debbie

A Handy Pocket Card

Hello dear crafty friends,

I hope you’re well and happy. I haven’t had much time lately to stamp and post. Hubby and I have been busy with weddings, grandchildren, and trying to get a start on our kitchen renovation. But now I believe I’ll have more time for paper crafting . . . at least, I hope so! Today I have a few Pocket Cards to share with you, a couple made by a fellow paper crafter, Mariellen, and a sample of my own.

Mariellen’s first sample using Expressions in Ink Designer Series Paper
Isn’t this card gorgeous?!
This is Mariellen’s second Pocket Card. The Designer Series Paper is retired and I don’t remember the name, but I do remember it was very pretty paper.
The Designer Series Paper makes a beautiful card, don’t you think? Thanks for sharing, Mariellen.

Here is my Pocket Card. It was so much fun to make! And easy, too!

Here are the details:

CUTTING MEASUREMENTS:

Misty Moonlight Card base: 4-1/4 x 11 inches, scored in landscape at 1 inch and 5-1/2 inches

Pattern Party Designer Series Paper: 4 x 4 inches

Pool Party cardstock: 3-3/4 x 5-1/4 inches

Basic White cardstock: 3-1/2 x 5 inches

Strip of coordinating cardstock or foil (Pool Party): 3/4 x 4-1/4 inches

Matching ribbon (Crushed Curry): 16 inches length, 2-1/2 inches length

Assembly directions:

Fold and burnish scored lines on card base.

Adhere Designer Series Paper square to card front. Fold flap down over paper and adhere. Add foil or cardstock strip to flap. Wrap longer length of ribbon around card flap and tie a bow. Use a mini glue dot to secure the bow.

Stamp the greeting near top of Basic White cardstock. I used a greeting and image from the Eden’s Garden stamp set, coming out in November. Fold smaller piece of ribbon in half; place a mini glue dot between the ends of the ribbon. Use Tombow Liquid Glue to adhere the ribbon pull to the back of the cardstock. Then use the liquid glue to adhere the white cardstock to the Pool Party layer. Slip the card into the pocket.

Decorate your card front and envelope, if you wish. I used the Flowers of Friendship, Crushed Curry and Pool Party inks and cardstocks to make the flowers and leaves for the card front. I used a rhinestone from the Holiday Rhinestones for the flower center.

And Voila! You’ve made a Pocket Card! Hope you like it!

Have a blessed day! Debbie

September 2021 Mystery Card Monday Bay Window Fun Fold Card

Hi crafty friends!

Recently, several of us got together for “Mystery Card Monday” where I come up with a card or fun fold design, give the “detectives” instructions to prepare for the Mystery Card, and then we meet on Zoom to make our cards. It’s so much fun! This month I thought it would be fun to make a Bay Window Fun Fold card.

You will need a sheet of Designer Series Paper, some matching cardstock, and neutral cardstock. Also a bone folder, and a score board or paper trimmer with score blade is needed.  You’ll also need the usual things: adhesive (Tombow Liquid Glue is good for this card), mini dimensionals (or cut regular dimensionals in half), any embellishment(s) you may wish to add to the card.

A view from above

Card Base (coordinating color cardstock):  4-1/4 x 11 inches

Score in landscape position (along long side of cardstock) @ 3/8″, 1-7/8″, 3-5/8″, 5-1/8″, and 5-1/2″.

Neutral color cardstock (white or cream):

            3-1/4 x 4 inches

scrap for card front greeting (Good size would be 1-3/8 x 1-3/4 inches.)

Designer Series Paper (two-sided):

            1/4″ x 4″  (Cut 3)

            1″ x 4″  (Cut 2)

            1-1/4 x 4″  (Cut 4)

            1-1/2″ x 4″  (Cut 2)

The card open

ASSEMBLY:

            1.  Cut and score card base as directed above.  Fold and burnish score lines both directions.

            2.  Use template to help in arranging pieces of Designer Series Paper on card front and inside card.  Stamp or decorate neutral cardstock inside layer.

            3.  Use liquid glue to adhere all DSP pieces, EXCEPT for the inside piece to the far right.  Instead of gluing, place mini dimensionals behind the DSP layer down the middle of the strip.  Remove paper backing and adhere to card base.

            4.  Put liquid glue along skinny strip on inside center of card (the strip without any DSP, see template).  Fold strip closed and hold in place for a minute or two.

             5.  On card front, adhere your greeting label.  Make the bay by tucking skinny strip of card front under the inside strip with the dimensionals. The card will fold flat for mailing.

             6.  Decorate envelope, if desired.

Here is the template which shows you how to place your Designer Series Paper.

Mary is one of my downlines, and here is her Bay Window Card:

This is so cute! Love that DSP! Thanks for sharing, Mary.
Great Halloween card!

Hope that gives you some inspiration to make your own Bay Window card!

REMINDER: The last day of Sale-a-bration is September 30th, Thursday. I’m putting an order together. Let me know if you want anything.

Have a blessed day! Debbie

Pretty Christmas Cards from a Crafty Friend

Hi crafty friends!

I have a good friend, Dorothea, who has been crafting for a long time. Her cards are so beautiful and full of light, as she likes to use metallic papers on her Christmas cards.

The deer is cut from silver foil. The background of the card is embossed with the Evergreen Forest 3D embossing folder and the Stampin’ Up! Cut & Emboss machine. Do you notice the vellum tag? It allows the deer to be highlighted, and the vellum looks embossed as well. Very pretty!

This card is done in rich colors and embossed with gold embossing powder. I love the blending on the card and the lighter red ink around the tree. It makes the tree glow! Very beautiful!

Here are two more cards with the same layout, but different colors. Which one do you like best?

Thank you, Dorothea, for sending me your creative Christmas cards!

Have a blessed day!

Cute and Easy Gift Card Holder

Hi crafty friends!

I haven’t been very consistent in my posts lately. A lot of “life” has been happening. My son-in-law took two of the grandkids to Russia for several weeks. They had a blast and Kon got to visit with his extended family which is always a good thing. But while we missed them, we were able to spend more time with our daughter and newest granddaughter.

Isn’t she cute?! So now that I’ve given you a smile for the day, here is a timely project for so many celebrations: Christmas, birthdays, graduations, new baby, and so on. It’s an easy and pretty gift card holder! I made the first one as a Christmas card holder that could hang on your Christmas tree. Our Mystery Card Monday group made them recently and I’ll share Diane’s holder, too. Here are the prep and directions to assemble this gift card holder.

SUPPLIES NEEDED:

Designer Series Paper: cut to 5 x 7 inches, check orientation in portrait position

            Matching thin ribbon:  16 inches

Matching thin ribbon or matching baker’s twine:  16 inches

Strong adhesive, like Fast Fuse or Tear-n-Tape

            Cardstock scrap that matches DSP

Neutral cardstock scrap to stamp greeting

OTHER ACCESSORIES NEEDED:

            Score board with stylus

            Black ink pad

Small Christmas or other greeting stamp– 1-1/4 width

Circle or square punches if you have them:  1-1/2 inch and 1-3/4 inch [If you don’t have circle punches, cut out two squares: 1-1/2 inch square and a 1-3/4 inch square.]

            Small circle or oval punch

            Scissors

            Pencil

            Small ruler

ASSEMBLY DIRECTIONS:

Here is the template.  To enlarge, click on photo.

1.         In portrait position (short side at top of scoring board), score at 3/4″ and 4-1/4″.

2.         Rotate 90 degrees (landscape position or long side at top of scoring board) and score at 2″ and 4-1/2″.

3.         Fold and burnish scored lines with a bone folder.

3.         Find smaller rectangle and cut a thumb notch using any punch you have: circle and oval punches work well for this.  This will allow the recipient to easily pull the gift card out of the holder.

4.         Use a ruler to make tick marks at 3-1/8″ on both sides of DSP as shown in template. Be sure to measure from the correct end of the DSP – the opposite end from the notch you made.  Cut these sections away as in the template, so you have this:

5.         Cut away skinny rectangle on either side of notched rectangle.

6.         Cut a slight wedge from both sides of the flaps that are left.

7.         Turn cardstock so that DSP is facing up.  Apply strong adhesive to flaps.

8.         Turn holder over to back side.  Fold flaps inward.  Remove adhesive.  Fold notched end up and over flaps to adhere.

9.         Fold top flap down.  Decorate as desired.

10.       Ways to keep holder closed:

                        1.         use 16 inches of ribbon to wrap around holder and tie with a bow or double knot;

                        2.         use small Velcro dots;

                        3.         use small magnets.

11.       Slide 16″ of baker’s twine through gift card holder and tie in a knot to hang on Christmas tree branch.

This sample is Diane’s lovely gift card holder:

Beautiful, Diane! Love the fall colors on your project!

Diane inspired me to use fall colors, so here is a masculine style gift card holder made with the Gorgeous Leaves Bundle and In Good Taste Designer Series Paper:

I used a Velcro enclosure on this one. You could also tuck this gift card holder into a card for your recipient.  Enjoy!!

Have a blessed day!

Counting Sheep Birthday Card

Hi crafty friends!

I hope you are well and happy. I’d like to share a card with you that uses free Sale-a-bration products: the Counting Sheep stamp set and the accompanying Sheep dies. If you place an order of $100, you can get both of these items FREE. Sale-a-bration goes till the end of September, but some items may run out before then. If you really want something from the SAB brochure, don’t wait – get it now! Here is the card I have for you today:

Card base (Thick Basic White): 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 inches, scored at 4-1/4 inches. I used a Stampin’ Blender Brush and Balmy Blue ink to create the sky. The “hill” of grass was made with Granny Apple Green cardstock. The In Good Taste DSP was perfect for the fence. I love the way the sun peeps out from behind the cloud.

The birthday sheep with his birthday hat is leaping for joy, so cute! Here is the inside of the card:

Hope you like this cute card. It brings a smile to my face. May it bring one to yours as well.

Have a blessed day!
