Gorgeous Leaves Thinking of You Card

Hi crafty friends!

I have another card for you today using the Gorgeous Leaves Bundle in the Holiday Mini Catalog with the In Good Taste Designer Series Paper from the Annual Catalog.  The Intricate Dies that come with this bundle are so pretty.

I cut the intricate maple leaf with gold foil and the corresponding die.  My neutral cardstock is Very Vanilla.  The multi-colored leaves are achieved by using two or more inks.  First, ink the leaf with the lighter color ink.  Then dab a sponge or sponge dauber onto the darker ink.  Lightly sponge the edges of the stamp.  Give a huff (soft breath) onto the stamp and then stamp onto your cardstock.  **Be sure to clean the stamp before repeating the process.

I used Crushed Curry and Pumpkin Pie on the maple leaf, Old Olive and Cherry Cobbler on the longer leaf, and Cajun Craze on the smallest leaf.  Then I ran the leaves through my Cut & Emboss Machine.  They are layered on the Designer Paper.  The greeting, “Thinking of You,” is from the Beauty of Friendship stamp set and popped up with Mini Dimensionals, while the inside sentiment is from the Best Year stamp set.  I used Old Olive to ink up the sentiment and stamped onto a scrap of Very Vanilla.  Using my Paper Snips, I cut around the sentiments and adhered it over the Early Espresso woodgrain image.  I tied some Linen Thread in a double knot and adhered it to the card front with a Mini Glue Dot.

Card Base (Early Espresso):  11 x 4-1/4 inches, scored at 5-1/2 inches

Layer 1 (Soft Suede):  5-3/8 x 4-1/8 inches

Layer 2 (In Good Taste DSP):  5-1/4 x 4 inches

Inside layer (Very Vanilla):  5-1/4 x 4 inches

Very Vanilla scraps to stamp on and cut out

Finishing Touch:  Three Genial Gems were added to the front of the card.  It may be hard to see them, but they add a bit of bling!

Have a blessed day!

Gorgeous Leaves Card

Hi crafty friends!

I LOVE leaves, both the real kind and the stamped kind 😊  I love everything about autumn, especially the colorful trees and plants here in Ohio.  That’s why I was really eager to get my hands on the Gorgeous Leaves Bundle (#158609) in the Holiday Mini Catalog (July-December).

Here is my first attempt to create something with the leaves and the dies:

Here is a second photo where you can see the shiny copper foil on the intricate leaves dies:

I also used a special technique on the stamped leaves.  I stamped each leaf in one color, then I dipped a sponge dauber onto another ink color and sponged along the edges of the leaf.  When I stamped it on the card front, I had a more realistic look, reminiscent of fall leaf colors.  I used my Stampin’ Up! Cut & Emboss machine to die cut the intricate leaves from copper foil.  The greeting, “Friend,” comes from the Daisy Lane stamp set.

I kept the inside simple, using my Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie, and Cajun Craze markers to color directly on the tiny leaves.  Then I breathed onto the stamp to re-moisten the ink and stamped onto my cardstock.  I added a small copper foil leaf, cut out with the Intricate Leaves Dies, which are part of the bundle.

Here are the details:

Card base (Crumb Cake):  11 x 4-1/4 inches, scored at 5-1/2 inches

Layer 1 (Very Vanilla):  5-1/4 x 4 inches

Greeting Layer (Soft Suede):  2-1/4 x 1-1/2 inches

            Very Vanilla:  2 x 1-1/4 inches

Inside Layer (Very Vanilla):  5-1/4 x 4 inches

Inks:  Cajun Craze, Pumpkin Pie, and Old Olive markers; Old Olive, Crushed Curry, Cajun Craze, and Soft Suede ink pads

Accessories:  Genial Gems, Dimensionals, Tombow Liquid Glue, Sponge daubers, Linen Thread, Copper Foil Paper

Thanks for lookin’! Have a blessed day!

July 2021 Mystery Card Monday

Hi crafty friends!

On Monday several friends joined me on Zoom for the monthly Mystery Card for July.  Here is the card I made with details:

Cutting measurements:

Card base (solid cardstock):  4-1/4 x 11 inches, score in landscape at 2-1/8 and 5-1/2  inches

Neutral cardstock (vanilla or white):  1-1/2 x 4 inches (greeting label); 3-3/8 x 4 inches (inside sentiment layer)

            Designer Series Paper:  4 x 4 inches

            Coordinating Designer Series Paper (muted design):  1/2 x 4 inches; 1 x 4 inches

Cardstock that coordinates with DSP:  1-1/2 x 4 inches, may be embossed

Two pieces, Coordinating Color of Ribbon:  5-inch length and a 4-inch length

You can use whatever supplies you have.  I used the Designer Series Paper from the You’re a Peach Suite in the 2021-2022 Annual Catalog, along with the stamp set.  For the “happy” greeting, I used the Biggest Wish stamp set.  This is a fun fold variation on a Z Fold Card.

Assembly:

            1.  Fold card base for a Z-Fold card as in photo.  My card is in vertical (portrait) position.

            2.  Work on the greeting label.  Stamp your greeting, add an embellishment or image if desired.  Adhere to top of card front as in photo.

            3.  Stamp sentiment on inside layer.  Add image if desired.  Adhere to inside of card.

            4.  If you have embossed the 1-1/2 x 4 inches of colored cardstock, you may want to sponge it with coordinating ink and a dauber.  Use Liquid Tombow glue to adhere to inside of card.

            5.  On inside of card, adhere 1/2 x 4 inch strip to bottom.

            6.  Wrap the 5″ piece of ribbon around the 1 x 4 inch piece of Designer Series Paper. Adhere ends of ribbon on back with Stampin’ Seal.  Wrap 4″ piece of ribbon under the 5″ piece and tie in a single knot.  Trim ends of ribbon.  Adhere.

            7.  Glue 4 x 4 inch piece of DSP to front panel of card.  Put the glue on the front flap, making sure the layer covers what is beneath and in such a way so the glue won’t accidentally close the card completely shut.  You may need to slightly overlap the greeting label.  See photo for help.

            8.  Decorate your envelope if desired.

Hope you’ll give this special fold card a try.

Have a blessed day!

Cards Shared with Me

Hi crafty friends!

A good friend and fellow crafter Mariellen recently shared a few cards she had made.  Well, I asked if I could share them with you all and she agreed.  So here they are!  First up is a Father’s Day Card:

FRONT
INSIDE

The next two cards are Thank You cards:

This card uses the yummy You’re a Peach 12 x 12 Designer Series Paper (which is on sale 15% off through August!).

This card uses the Hand-Penned 12 x 12 Designer Series Paper. (This paper is also 15% off through August.)  It’s gorgeous and Mariellen softened the flowers in the background of both Thank You Cards by covering them with Vellum cardstock. The effect is to lighten the busy DSP so that the main flower images can be seen easily.  Way to go, Mariellen!

Summer Bash Projects

Hi crafty friends!

I promised you I would share the Make & Takes we did at the New Catalog Summer Bash last Saturday here in Cincinnati.  We had 5 stations and one of them was my good friend Mary who demonstrated the One Sheet Wonder Technique for both 6 x 6 and 12 x 12 Designer Series Paper.

Here is a pic of the Make & Takes:

Now . . . one by one, the first is Paula’s gate fold card.

I love the blue hues in her card.  The next one is Maggie’s card:

You can’t see it, but she used clear Wink of Stella and the In Colors Shimmer Vellum.  Very pretty!  Next up is my upline Angela’s card:

Angela used the Memories & More pack for the Hand-Penned Suite.  I might have to buy that! The next Make & Take is Mary’s from the One Sheet Wonder demonstration:

This last card is mine. I used the Beauty of the Earth Suite:  stamps, Bark embossing folder, and the coordinating Designer Series Paper.  It was great fun!  I hope you can join us in September for the Holiday Mini Catalog Bash!  Hope you liked our projects.

Have a blessed day!  Go stamp something!

Inspiring Iris Get Well Card

Hi crafty friends!

The Inspiring Iris stamp set has been setting on my desk for weeks and I haven’t gotten it inky yet, even though this set will be retiring the end of this month.  This stamp set with its greetings and sentiments is really sweet!  It reminds me of the Hand-Penned stamp set in the new catalog.  I needed a get well card for a friend and this stamp set was the answer!

I used Thick Basic White for the card base: 4-1/4 x 11 inches, scored at 5-1/2 inches.

The next layer was the new 6 x 6 In Colors Designer Series Paper in Fresh Freesia, which was cut to 5-1/2 x 4 inches.  Then I ran it through my Cut & Emboss machine with the scallop edge die from the Penned Flowers Dies.  Love the stitching along the scalloped edge!

The focal image was stamped with Tuxedo Black Momento ink on a Basic White matte 2-1/4 x 4 inches.  I rounded the corners to give it a softer look.  The flowers and leaves were colored in with the Granny Apple Green, Fresh Freesia, and Dark Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends.  The square vellum doilies add some visual interest and ground the focal image.  That layer is popped up with dimensionals.  I added the greeting matted with some Fresh Freesia cardstock and scattered a few of the Fresh Freesia 2021-2023 In Color Jewels on the card front.

I hope this little card brings a smile to my friend’s face and a lift to her spirits. If you would like to purchase this stamp set before it retires, head to the Shop button above and search for the Inspiring Iris set (#149268). Thanks for visiting!  Come back soon.

Have a blessed day and go stamp something!

Directions for Making Your Own Slimline Fun Fold Card

Hi crafty friends!

Sandy asked if I would share the directions for making this slimline card that fits inside a business-size envelope.  I’m happy to oblige.  These directions are specific to my card, but there are ways to vary them – the size of the focal mat, for example.

PRODUCTS NEEDED FOR THIS CARD:

Garden Green, Pale Papaya, Mint Macaron, and Basic White cardstock; Hand-Penned 12 x 12 Designer Series Paper; Hammered Metal 3D Embossing Folder; Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine by Stampin’ Up!; Hand-Penned Petals stamp set; Penned Flowers Dies; Matte Black Dots; Pale Papaya Open Weave Ribbon; Mint Macaron, Pale Papaya, and Tuxedo Black Momento inks; Art Gallery stamp set (for greeting)

CUTTING MEASUREMENTS:

Garden Green card base:  8-1/2″ x 8-1/2 “, score at 2″ and 5-1/2”, fold and burnish

Basic White focal layer:  3″ x 4″ (for flowers image and greeting)

Garden Green focal layer:  3-1/4″ x 5″ (use scallop die along 3-1/4″ edge, and trim to desired length

            Hand-Penned Designer Series Paper:  (cut 1) 1-3/4″ x 8-1/4″

                        (cut 2) 2-3/4″ x 8-1/4″

(cut 2) 1″ x 3-1/4″ (for top & bottom of inside layer, see photo)

            Mint Macaron layers:  (cut 2) 1-7/8″ x 8-3/8″

                        (cut 2) 2-7/8″ x 8-3/8″

                        (cut 1)  3-3/8″ x 8-3/8″

Pale Papaya cardstock:  1-3/4″ x 8-1/4″, run through embossing folder

Pale Papaya Open Weave Ribbon:  12″ length for a bow

I used Seal and Tombow Liquid Glue to adhere the card together.

Tip:  When adhering the focal layers to card front, be sure to put the adhesive on the back of one side only or you’ll adhere your card together.  (See the Garden Green focal mat in photo above. The last things to do would be to use a glue dot to adhere the bow and placing the matte black dots on the centers of the flowers.

This is a large card and takes a lot of cardstock and DSP, but it was worth it to give it to my daughter for her birthday!  Give it a try!  So thank you, Sandy, for your comment! I hope my post is helpful. If you need the products for this project, I would appreciate it if you click on the Shop button to go to my online store to place your order.

Have a blessed day and go stamp something!
